A form of advertising that involves selling goods and services directly to consumers rather than through retail stores, usually via direct mail, telephone selling and door to door selling. One of the main differences between direct marketing and standard marketing practices is that when it comes to the former, the result of a promotion can be easily measured in terms of response rates. Moreover, direct marketing is mostly dependent upon the use of categorized and highly targeted customer mailing lists and databases.

What is Doorway Page ?
Also known as ‘bridge page,’ or ‘gateway page.’ A doorway page is an extremely poor quality page that is heavily optimized to rank for a keyword. It fails to offer any value to a user and more often than not, cannot even be seen by them because within seconds, they are automatically re-directed to the actual destination they clicked through to visit. Websites that contain doorway pages are severely penalized by search engines and are swiftly removed from the index.

The former occurs when content is purposely duplicated across multiple domains with the sole intention of manipulating search engine rankings and gaining more traffic. This practice is abhorred by the search engines (especially because it provides a poor user experience) and websites containing duplicate content are usually booted out of the index.

So if you’re researching the keyword ‘chocolate candy,’ you’ll want the numbers exclusively for this phrase and not for variations such as chocolate cream candy or expensive chocolate candy. This way, you’ll be able to obtain fairly accurate keyword research data for your niche website projects.
