Mobile Marketing: Yelp, Foursquare and Other Awesome Things

I’ve said it before, and I’m sure I’ll say it many more times: Local, mobile and social are the future of advertising and marketing.

What does this mean? People search for local businesses all the time. Where’s a good thai restaurant nearby? Where’s the closest place to get my oil changed? These searches are being done at home, on laptops in coffee shops, from people’s iPhones. And as a business owner it’s important that you know what’s happening and adjust your marketing strategy accordingly.

Mobile Marketing Q and A

There were a TON of great questions from the members-only chat and the public chat on this week’s live show! It started with questions about mobile marketing, then branched out to all kinds of interesting topics. Here are some of the answers you’ll get in this newest Q and A clip:

1. Should I focus on Yelp and Foursquare for local marketing?
2. What kind of smartphone should I get for mobile marketing?
3. Will Flash be a thing of the past since mobile phones can’t handle it?

The Solution to Duplicate Content

Noone likes searching for something on the internet and seeing multiple sites with the same information on them. So to improve the users’ experience, Google is very hard on those who post duplicate content, their own or stolen from others.

So how do you find out if your content is unique? How do you know if your writers are writing original articles or just copying and pasting someone else’s? You now have a tool to find this out for you. It’s called Plagium. Plagium.com is a very simple tool. You enter a paragraph into the field, and it finds out if it’s unique or not, shows you how many times it’s been used, and where it’s located.

Affiliate Marketing Automated

I recently showed the viewers of my live Tuesday night show a tool called VigLink that I stumbled across. It seemed pretty awesome to me. So I wanted to share it with you here.

VigLink is an affiliate link automator tool, basically. To see what they potentially can help you earn, they do a scan of the pages of your website for terms which relate to already-existing affiliate products. They will then give you an estimate of how much money you’re potentially missing out on.

Google’s Conscience

It’s not news that Google is a gigantic conglomerate, whose decisions are financial first and foremost. However, this week marks a big change and a decision which was based on what’s right for mankind, and not money.

This week Google decided they will no longer censor their searches in China.  This decision was made as a result of the extremely invasive hacks they were subjected to this past December. At first, they thought it was one of the more common and annoying hackers just causing trouble. But after thorough investigation it was found that the Chinese government themselves was the culprit. They were secretly and illegally reading gmails of human rights activists in China to get information.

Online Marketing Tools For the Week

I reviewed a few different tools that I considered to be cool on my live show this week:

1. A special automator service for affiliate marketers (VigLink).

2. A duplicate content finder (Plagium).

3. A grammar assistant tool (Gramlee).

There’s a lot to know and do to be successful in creating an online business.  So tools that make things easier and faster are always welcome, in my opinion.  Just thought it might be nice to share a few of them with you.  Watch the clip from this past week’s show below to see what they are and how they work.  Hope they help!  And feel free to contact me about new tools that you think are cool, as well.

You got questions?  Well…we got answers.

Throughout the week, members of my BusinessInnerCircle.com website ask questions on our forums.  The members help each other, and my staff are there to answer questions as well.  And on Tuesday nights I answer a few of the forum questions live on my show. Two great questions were posed this past week in the forums, so I decided to answer them on the show.

Question 1 was about article writing, its value and the issue of duplicate content.
