The most basic definition would be as follows – the promotion of goods and/or services via email. Here’s a better definition though – the use of email to forge and cultivate strong business relationships with potential customers and/or existing clients. A good example of email marketing at its worst is all the spam mails we get bombarded with on a regular basis. However, at its best, marketing via email allows companies to tailor their communication according to their target market, keep their customer base informed, enhance consumer loyalty and increase their revenue by leaps and bounds. Other advantages of email marketing include the price (it’s an inexpensive form of advertising) and the ease of use (setting up an email campaign is a breeze).
